The procedure for import clearance of retained hand-carry luggage

3. Necessary documents:

(1) Simple luggage taxation:

A.  Apply by the passenger (in person):

a. Original customs receipt for retained baggage.

b. Original passenger’s passport.

B. Apply by the others authorized by the passenger:

a. Original customs receipt for retained baggage.

b. Original power of attorney for custom clearance.

c.  Photocopy of passenger’s passport.

d.  Original identifications of deputy.

(2) Formal import clearance:

A. Original customs receipt for retained baggage.

B. Import declaration form.

C. Invoice /Commercial invoice.(Signed by the seller)

D. Packing List.

E. Photocopy of passenger’s passport.

F. Power of attorney for declaration.

G. Statement of transference for goods.(Required if the goods belongs to the company.)

H. Import Permit.(Required if total value exceeds US$20,000.)

I.  Formal company seal and owner’s seal. (Required if the goods belongs to the company.)

J.  Others—subject to laws and regulations governing corresponding articles.

4. Notice: Warehouse fee NT$25 per piece per day would be charged from the 4th day.

Single window service of declaration of drugs and foods for Inward Passengers

1. From January 20th. 1999, inward passengers carrying the following items should apply to the Baggage Inspection Section, Inspection Division of TPC (Taipei Customs ). Through fax, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Executive Yuan will handle the application and fax it back to the customs taxation office when it is done; passengers could therefore save the inconvenience of rushing around.

(1) Drugs,

(2) cosmetics,

(3) medical apparatus,

(4) foods (including food additives),

for which the permit documents issued by Ministry of Health and Welfare, Executive Yuan are required for importation.

2.  The form for inbound passengers to apply for this single window process is provided by Ministry of Health and Welfare, Executive Yuan or Inward airport taxation table of TPC, with the ingredient instruction submitted at the same time (leaflet).

3.This process takes about three days under normal conditions.


In case of any discrepancy between the English version and the Chinese version, the latter shall prevail.
