As cross-border online shopping is becoming more widespread, Taipei Customs urges the public to review import requirements before engaging in online shopping.
Taipei Customs reminds the public to take note of the following goods that are subject to import restrictions or prohibited from being imported. These include medical devices (such as hyaluronic acid products, beauty devices, hair-removal devices, and wheelchairs), plant seeds, quarantine products containing meat, heated tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and counterfeit goods.
To safeguard public health and safety, Taipei Customs has strengthened inspections of imported goods. Any violations of import regulations will be referred to the competent authorities for administrative penalities or to the judicial authorities for further investigation.
Taipei Customs urges the public to “review the import requirements before placing an order”when making cross-border online purchases. Taipei Customs also encouraged the public to make use of the “Customs-Port Trade Single Window” website or the websites of the relevant competent authorities to check applicable import regulations, so as to protect their rights and ensure a safe and efficient customs clearance environment.
