Is it mandatory for the invoice to be signed by the seller? | Amber | 114-03-05 16:48:00 | Dear Sir/Madam, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek clarification regarding the requirement for the seller's signature on the invoice for import transactions, as requested by our Taiwanese importer. As we are in an increasingly digital and paperless environment, our company policy dictates that invoices are printed and sent without the need for a signature once they are generated in the system. However, the Taiwanese importer insists on receiving an invoice that is signed by the seller. After reviewing Taiwan's regulations thoroughly, specifically the Customs Act, Article 17, which states that "the importer shall submit an import declaration form along with invoices, packing lists, and other relevant documents required for customs clearance," there is no mention of a requirement for the invoice to be signed by the seller. Given the ongoing dispute with the importer regarding this matter, we would appreciate it if Taiwan Customs could provide further clarification on whether the signature on the invoice is a legal requirement and, if so, the specific legal basis for this. Your prompt response will be greatly appreciated and will help facilitate the smooth progression of our transaction. Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. |
