In the previous Customs E-seals system, dedicated handheld and stationary readers were needed to scan the RFID signals of the E-seals. The equipment was costly and required specific maintenance, which made it hard to promote to more container yards or warehouses. With the launch of the new Customs E-seals system in 2023, in order to take advantage of the increasingly widespread use of smartphones, an APP was introduced to replace the dedicated readers mentioned above. The APP can be used on both passive E-seals and E-paper seals and is available on Android and iOS smartphone systems.
