New Gantry-Mounted Container Inspection Machine and Inspection Station Begin Operations at Kaohsiung Port

In line with the “New Generation Anti-Drug Strategy,” Customs continues to modernize inspection technologies, enhancing the convenience of customs clearance while effectively detecting drugs and other prohibited items. As the 7th Container Terminal at Kaohsiung Port began operations in 2023, the increase in container traffic prompted the installation of a Gantry-Mounted Container Inspection Machine and inspection station at the junction between the 6th and 7th container terminals from 2020 to 2024.

The new Gantry-Mounted Container Inspection Machine and inspection station were successfully inspected and underwent trial operations in June 2024, and officially began operations in August 2024. The system uses high-energy X-ray sources and incorporates material differentiation capabilities, significantly improving image clarity and reducing the risk of misjudgment. This optimization enhances inspection effectiveness, further saves time and money for businesses, and boosts the international trade competitiveness of Taiwanese companies.
