1. In accordance with the revisions to the Harmonized System (HS) published by the World Customs Organization (WCO), the Chinese translation and the tariff correlation and conversion tables are prepared. An inter-ministerial Task Force Meeting on the Amendment of the Customs Import Tariff is convened to review the translated texts and verify the allocation of tariff codes.
2. Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance, together with local customs offices and relevant import/export associations, organizes a Seminar on the Amendments to the Customs Import Tariff to help businesses and stakeholders understand the key revisions and to collect feedback from various sectors.
3. Based on the resolutions of the Task Force Meeting, a draft amendment to the Customs Import Tariff is prepared and submitted to the Tariff Rate Committee of the Ministry of Finance for review and approval. Upon approval, the draft is forwarded to the Executive Yuan for referral to the Legislative Yuan for deliberation.
4. After approval by the Executive Yuan, the draft is submitted to the Legislative Yuan for consideration. Upon completion of the third reading and promulgation by the President, the amended Customs Import Tariff shall take effect on the date of promulgation.
