For those declaring textiles, please note the ratio of net weight to statistical units

According to Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance, other than the ICT industry, the textile industry is one of three major foreign exchange-earning industries in Taiwan, and plays an integral role in our country's economic development. On top of that, the advanced technologies of our functional textiles attract international attention and drive the import and export of related goods. In order to maintain quality in trade statistics, Customs urges customs brokers and companies to note the ratio of net weight to units of statistical measurement and the CCC Code when declaring textiles and textile articles.
Customs stated that logical checks are now implemented on declarations so as to maintain statistical stability and accuracy. When goods declared are apparently inconsistent with the “Description of Goods” column of CCC Code, a rejection message will be sent. For textiles and textile articles under Tariff No. 5111.11, 5112.11, 5208-5212, and 5513-5514, Customs shall implement a check of the ratio of net weight to units of statistical measurement. Take CCC Code 5208.11.00.00-7 (Woven fabrics of cotton, plain weave, containing 85% or more by weight of cotton, weighing not more than 100g/square meter, unbleached) as an example. The upper limit of unit weight is defined in the “Description of Goods” column. According to the above regulations, goods declared weighing more than 100g/square meter will be rejected.
Customs Administration further stated that CCC Code is based on Customs Import Tariff and Import and Export Commodity Classification of the Republic of China. To avoid being rejected, customs brokers should follow the “Description of Goods” column of CCC Code when declaring.
