The handover ceremony and inauguration for the newly appointed Director of Kaohsiung Customs (KHC) is held on January 16, 2025, at 13:30, in the Grand Hall on the 6th floor of KHC. The ceremony is supervised by Deputy Director General of Customs Administration, Chao Tai An. Director Chen Mu Jung retired and the post is taken over by Liu Fang Chu, Deputy Director of Taichung Customs. The ceremony is simple yet grand, with a warm atmosphere.
Deputy Director General Chao, on behalf of Director General, firstly indicated in his speech that unselfish contribution from Director Chen Mu Jung for more than 40 years, he demonstrated exceptional talent in the field of information management, designing and implementing numerous digital and intelligent customs clearance systems. These systems have set a benchmark for creating a safer and more efficient customs environment in Taiwan. During his tenure as Director of KHC, his outstanding leadership significantly benefited remarkable achievements of combating tobacco and drug smuggling as well as enhancing customs clearance efficiency. His contribution have been the powerful strong pillar of the nation’s border security and trade. Besides, the new director of KHC, Liu Fang Chu, holds a master degree in law from National Chengchi University. In 2011, she was recognized as a Model Civil Servant by Ministry of Finance. Liu has previously served as the Chief of Keelung Customs, Director of Customs Administration, and Deputy Director of Taichung Customs, accumulating extensive experience in international customs affairs. With her professionalism and dedication, she is expected to continue building on past success and leading KHC to provide even better clearance services and enhance border security.
In his farewell speech, outgoing Director Chen stated the collective efforts of his colleagues enabled the successful completion of missions assigned by superiors. He expressed special gratitude to the relevant agencies and industries for their support and assistance, which facilitated the smooth operation of KHC and earned recognition from the Customs Administration and all sectors.
New Director Liu expressed her gratitude for Director Chen’s contributions during his tenure. She also noted that the volume of business at KHC continue to grow. To ensure smooth operation moving forward, she outlined five key priorities for the future:
1. Leveraging technology to enhance investigation effectiveness
2. Streamlining clearance procedures to improve efficiency
3. Strengthening horizontal coordination and international cooperation
4. Fostering communication with businesses to achieve win-win outcomes
5. Cultivating talent and passing on experience
Finally, Director Liu emphasized her commitment to fostering a work environment that promotes gender quality and inclusivity, where colleagues work together in unity to fulfill the mission of the Customs.
