How can I carry pets into or out of Taiwan?

1. Entry/Import :
Inbound passengers carrying pets should fill out the Customs declaration form with correct description of articles, quantities and value, and then pass through the red (goods to declare/customs service) channel for clearance. Each passenger is entitled to a totaled NT$20,000 exemption for personal or household articles (including pets). As for submission of the required examination documents, and quarantine procedure for importing pets, please contact the  Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency Ministry of Agriculture  (Tel:+886-3-398-2663) for further information. 

2. Departure/Export :
(1) Passengers should present their passports and the health certification of pets to apply for inspection of pets before departure. The Hsinchu Division of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine as well as the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Quarantine Station shall process the application. The authorities will issue a quarantine certification to the passengers after pets passing all examinations.

(2) When departing, the passengers need to present examination documents to the quarantine unit for verification at the ports or airports. NOTICE

1. Pets carried by arriving passengers are restricted to dogs, cats and rabbits. Other kinds of live animals should be imported as cargo or unaccompanied baggage.

2. The Express Cargo Division is responsible for pets import declaration and inspection. (Tel: +886-3-393-8240)


In case of any discrepancy between the English version and the Chinese version, the latter shall prevail.
